Blendon Township currently regulates zoning and Franklin County handles all residential building department permits. How can I make sure my home is safe when I am away?
You can call the police department’s administrative office ((614) 882-8500 ) and give some basic information and we will ensure our officers check on your residence while you are away on vacation. We also have a vacation house check request on our website.

Can I be reimbursed the difference for Westerville amenities? (Ex: Community Center, Pool/Water Park passes?)
Beginning Jan. 1, 2022, the Township no longer has a reimbursement program for Westerville amenities. Please contact the City of Westerville for any questions regarding a membership.
Can I have livestock on my property?
Lots of 1 acre or less:
Agriculture is prohibited on lots of one (1) acre or less, except as permitted under SECTION 115 -REGULATION OF AGRICULTURE. This does not prohibit gardening related to a residence.
Lots of more than 5 acres:
Agriculture shall not be prohibited on lots greater than five acres and no zoning certificate shall be required for any such building or structure. Note: Agricultural structures must meet floodplain regulations in flood prone areas
Lots between 1 acre and 5 acres:
Buildings or structures incident to the use of land for agricultural purposes on lots greater than one (1) acre but not greater than five (5) acres must conform to setbacks, size and height requirements for the underlying zone and any applicable provisions of SECTION 115 – REGULATION OF AGRICULTURE.
Dairying and animal and poultry husbandry are permitted on lots greater than one (1) acre but not greater than five (5) acres until thirty five percent (35%) of the lots in the subdivision are developed with at least one (1) building, structure or improvement that is subject to real property taxation or that is subject to the tax on manufactured homes under section 4503.06 of the Ohio Revised Code. After thirty five percent (35%) of the lots in the subdivision are so developed, ongoing dairying and animal and poultry husbandry shall be considered a non-conforming use pursuant to section 519. 19 of the Ohio Revised Code. No new dairying, animal or poultry husbandry shall commence on such lots after thirty five percent (35%) of the lots are developed with structures.
How can I reserve Ridgewood Park?
Reservations for the shelter or gazebo are available to Blendon Township residents only.
Resident means you reside in Blendon Township, Non-Resident is anywhere outside of Blendon Township's jurisdiction. Blendon Township and Westerville pay different taxes, therefore there is a difference in pricing (Non-Resident) if you don't live in the township. What is the policy on grass height?
Blendon Township has adopted the International Property Maintenance Code, section 302.4, outlined below.

Premises and exterior property shall be maintained free from weeds or plant growth in excess of eight inches. Noxious weeds shall be prohibited. Weeds shall be defined as all grasses, annual plants and vegetation, other than trees or shrubs provided; however, this term shall not include cultivated flowers and gardens.
Upon failure of the owner or agent having charge of a property to cut and destroy weeds after service of a notice of violation, they shall be subject to prosecution in accordance with Section 106.3 and as prescribed by the authority having jurisdiction. Upon failure to comply with the notice of violation, any duly authorized employee of the jurisdiction or contractor hired by the jurisdiction shall be authorized to enter upon the property in violation and cut and destroy the weeds growing thereon, and the costs of such removal shall be paid by the owner or agent responsible for the property.
What is the policy on snow removal on sidewalks?
Blendon Township does not have a code dictating snow removal on sidewalks. It is recommended to read the Sidewalk Policy here.
Who is responsible for changing street light bulbs?
Blendon Township is not responsible for street lights. Outages or issues can be reported to AEP directly here.
