Veterans Flags:

Every year, the Boy Scouts come to Blendon Central Cemetery to place flags at Veterans' graves. They will places flags for Memorial Day & Veterans Day only. They do not go off of a list, instead they go row by row, and look for any Veteran markers located on graves.

If a grave does not have a marker indicating they were a Veteran, a flag will not be placed. You may contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to order a Veterans' marker: https://www.cem.va.gov/hmm/index.aspYou can have a marker ordered and shipped directly to Blendon Central Cemetery. We will place markers at the foot of the grave, at no cost to you.

If you do have a Veterans' marker and did not get a flag placed during either of those two holidays, please contact the Administrative Office: 614-882-1270

Please see below for our full list of rules regarding Veterans' markers:

  1. The cemetery will place veterans’ markers, at no cost to the owner, at the foot of the gravesite onto a pre-made foundation.
  2. Veterans’ markers can be placed at the head of the grave only if the marker will serve as the headstone. If the marker is being purchased to be mounted onto a headstone, this will be at the owner's expense and will need to be placed by a monument company.
  3. The Boy Scouts place American flags on gravesites with veterans’ markers on Veterans Day and Memorial Day. If no veteran marker is located on a gravesite, they will not place a flag.
  4. The cemetery crew will place a flag holder and flag at the grave if it has a Veterans Marker, at the request of the plot owner.
